FAQs

  1. IS YOUR BUSINESS ACCREDITED?
Yes, we are the only ultrasound facility in Hawaii who is a member of the AAUIF therefore, we are bound by strict guidelines concerning our equipment, staff and protocals. Please click on our AAUIF logo for detailed information.
  2. WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?
First Look is owned and operated by an R.N. with over 25 years of experience in OB and Labor and Delivery. All of our techs are graduates of an accredited school of SONOGRAPHY and are RDMS or RDMS eligible. We follow strict guidelines concerning staff and equipment.
  3. ARE YOU A DIAGNOSTIC CENTER?
NO, we never take the place of your doctors or health care providers appointment. Although our technicians are capable of completing a diagnostic scan, it is in no way intended to detect abnormalities. We provide limited information which includes fetal position, confirmation of heart beat, amniotic fluid and number of babies.
  4. WHAT IF YOU NOTICE SOMETHING THAT APPEARS TO BE ABNORMAL?
The R.N. would generate a report to your health care provider and send pictures. Again, we are not a diagnostic center, and not intended to detect abnormalities.
  5. IS IT SAFE?
Ultrasound has been used in obstetrics safely for more than 35 years. Dr. Joseph WooĆs report can be viewed on www.ob-ultrasound.net for detailed information. Safety is our greatest concern, therefore, we ONLY use state of the art equipment and qualified professional Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  6. WHAT WAS THE FDA’S CONCERN ABOUT 4D SONOGRAMS?
The FDA is concerned about some fly-by-night companies purchasing sub-standard equipment, using untrained, non-medical and unlicensed operators to perform Sonograms. In December 2003 the FDA issued a stern warning about the use of 4D Sonograms because it may give the patient false sense of security based on the fact that we do not provide a full diagnostic Sonogram. For this reason, we require that you are under the care of a physician or health care provider for your prenatal care.
  7. WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
We use the “state of the art” General Electric Volusion 730 machine. It is the top of the line in sonogram machines.  Our GE Volusion is routinely calibrated and serviced by a professional GE technician.
  8. WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR CLIENTS?
We have been in business for 5 years and have met many wonderful people. Because of the privacy act, we cannot give you names. However, we have had moms from all walks of life including local moms, military moms, doctors, lawyers, anesthesiologists, psychiatrists, and even the daughters of a “Super Star” and “Radio Personality”
